This ministry assists in minimising distractions during the service, staying ready to assist the church with any need, quietly aiding latecomers to seats, as well as relaying urgent messages as quickly and quietly as possible. Ushers are gatekeepers, they maintain the order that is needed in church.
One of the purposes of doorkeepers was to receive offerings from the people.
